Water Jasmine Stock 004 (29/06/2009)

Source: Nursery Stock

First attempt at a suspended air layering via wire tourniquet method. I brought forward the timing before my reservist so hopefully by the time im back, that is about 1month after, i can see some positive results. Im using 1part vermi + 1.5parts peat moss, as my im leaving the top exposed and the wind here is pretty constant almost more than half day thru, so more peat will prevent drying out totally.

Chinese Elm Root Cutting 001 (20/06/2009)

Source: Root cutting from elm nursery stock

Took about 11-13days for new buds to appear, nearly thought it was a goner. Seems like i could use it to develop into future mame.

Water Jasmine Mame 003 (23/06/2009)

Source: Nursery stock

About 4 months of taking care. Some ramifications have been done, branches have thicken up abit and i noticed a small little flower bud is developing. The problem now lies with the root system. Its far too deep downwards for a semi-cascade. Might have to try wire tourniquet to induce rooting at the level of the current soil surface.

Will be doing the following after i finished my reservist(in camp training) after 25th July: Layer(wire tourniquet) top part off and grow as another stock. Then chop lower part down til near the root area and develop into a stilt-rooted styled shohin.

OCH Water Jasmine 04 (22/05/2009)

Source: och(oh chin huat), seed grown

Accquired from OCH in Jan 2009. Same with all och plants i got back, dying... Finally nursed back to health, but the branch structuring is all messed up. Lack of good tapering, and many areas the branch do not alternate well. I still havent got an gd idea how to correct them yet, but i suppose huge cutting back has to be done if i were to re-structured the branches growth and directions.
